This is interesting but is more for a professional, very technical with graphs and drawings. This would be a great book for students or doctors. I am going to give this to my Psychiatrist when I finish it. Very good information to know about how common sexual abuse is in children. I have been diagnosis-ed with PTSD a few years ago (55 years old). I can not recall very many memories of childhood. I don't recall any sexual abuse from family members but there was a lot of verbal abuse and shaming. When in High School I was involved with a physically, emotionally abuse boyfriend. I became an addict and suffered from major depression. This book explains very completely about the subject.

Seems to me that this is a book for providers instead of people who are actually dealing with memory and abuse. I didn't feel it was very helpful to me and it angers me that I feel my money and time was wasted. I did read the whole book and am not making a snap judgement. It was mainly speaking about false memories of abuse and anyone who's ever been through abuse knows how angry it would make them to be accused of lying about something so horrible happening to you. The book talks a lot about court cases and that's just not why I buy self help books. I have read many recovery books about healing from abuse and other books by the same author and appreciated them; it's just not written for victims I think.

Mostly an attack on people who deny that the survivors of sex abuse apparently forget what happened

If what you want is to get a history of how sexual abusers have attacked the growing science of trauma affect the brain, than this is an excellent book. That wasn't what I thought it was going to be however. I was wanting a book that would discuss the changes that take place in the human brain when it experiences trauma. I'm halfway through the book already and haven't encountered such discussion. It comes across as a well written defense of modern psychology's approach to people who have remembered early childhood sexual abuse.

Very well written self-help book. The best in the market. Although it has scientific component and it might be difficult to understand for some readers. I would recommend it to everyone. Shipment perfectly on time.

page#243, page#234, page#86, page#258 were useful.
Remembering and healing the effects of trauma
This book seems to touch on the overall basics of counseling the abused and not abused but merely slighted patients in the counseling arena. Or they may suffer from some other illness and seeking attention from the psychologist during a family spat. Not insightful.
