WHY AND HOW
MEMORIZE THE WORD OF GOD
LISTEN HERE

Who would want to take the time to memorize the Word of God?
Well lets see, there's Moses, Joshua, David, Daniel, Paul, Mary, Steven, Philip, Peter, many others and Jesus Himself.
As you read the new testament you will see all of the above quoting the scripture and in many different circumstances.
They quoted the Word (from memory) while praying, worshiping, evangelizing, teaching, defending and even while battling the devil himself.
Scriptures are the Living Words of God, they have His life and power in them. You can't be saved or grow deep without them. So memorizing them will become a treasure of knowledge and a way to be fruitful in life and ministry.

Little knowledge of scripture means little spiritual power, faith and works. All great believers who did great things for God had scripture in their lives.........and could quote it as needed along the way.

I urge you in these days we live in to make it part of your life style to always memorize the scripture. The love of scripture, our honoring them is clearly a sign of love and commitment to Jesus.

John 14:23  ''Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

Knowing the Word comes before doing them(obedience)

WHY SHOULD YOU MEMORIZE THE WORD OF GOD?

1. It is the Word of God........there is nothing spiritually higher
    Hebrews 4

2. By the Word you were born again (saved )
    Romans 10:15 and 1 Peter 1:23-25

3. It is God's personal Word to you
    Romans 15:4 Acts 2:17

4. Those who quoted the Word had it memorized
Acts 2 peter and Acts 7 Steven  The psalms

5. It can be used in many ways:

    By God to you

    By God through you

    To encourage you

    To defend in spiritual war

    To witness

Remember it is the Holy Spirit who uses (and is author) the Word to win the lost and build the believers.
The Holy Spirit will use in you and through you the Word that you KNOW.
He Reminds you of what you HAVE inside.

HOW TO MEMORIZE THE WORD

To memorize scriptures is to learn the meaning and embed them into your mind and heart. Scripture is meant to be heard, read and to be fixed into your life(memorized).

Revelation 1:3 Says ''Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.''

I discuss these in the pod cast/ What do I say on the session teaching?

  The ones God picks
  The ones you need
